What is the Tattoo Guarantee?

If it doesn’t work, you get a replacement or your money back.

  • If your tattoo shows cracks, gaps or doesn’t reach full colour after developing (24–48 hours), the guarantee applies.
  • Get in touch within 72 hours of applying at help@tattup.shop, with a photo and your order number.
  • You get the same tattoo again, free including shipping, or your money back for that tattoo. You don’t need to return anything.
  • Also covers custom tattoos: we reprint your design or you get your money back.

It’s normal for your tattoo to slowly fade after a few days – that’s part of it.

Your statutory rights are not affected.

How does Tattup actually work?

The ink sinks into the top layer of your skin and reacts there with your skin’s amino acids. Within 24–48 hours this creates a dark blue to black tattoo – no needles, nothing goes deep into the skin.

It lasts up to 2 weeks, then fades on its own as this layer of skin keeps renewing itself.

Why does it look so real?

Because the colour doesn’t sit on your skin – it forms inside it. The ink sinks into the top layer of your skin and reacts there with the amino acids in your skin’s proteins, creating a deep blue-black within 24–48 hours. No shine, no film, no edges: it looks like a real tattoo and lasts up to 2 weeks.

How long does a Tattup tattoo last?

Up to 2 weeks. By then the top layer of your skin has renewed itself and the tattoo is gone.

How to make it last longer:

  • First 8 hours: no water, no rubbing.
  • First day: avoid contact as much as you can, wear loose clothes.
  • First 2 nights: wear something loose to sleep in – especially with a sleeve.
  • Choose spots with little friction.
  • From 48 hours on, once the colour has fully developed: apply a light, oil-free lotion daily.
  • Don’t scrub or exfoliate.

Our guide shows how long it lasts on each part of the body.

Do I need to shave before applying a Tattup tattoo?

We suggest a hair-free zone to reduce the risk of smudging.

Which parts of my body work best?

The less friction and water, the longer it lasts.

  • Best: inner forearm, upper arm, shoulder
  • Fades faster: hands, wrist, feet, ankles (lots of movement, washing, shoes)

Our guide compares all parts of the body.

Is Tattup friendly for all skin tones?

Yes. The ink reacts with your skin’s amino acids – and every skin tone has them. That’s why the tattoo turns dark blue to black on every skin, and on darker skin it often looks even bolder.

Do Tattup tattoos expire?

Yes. Unopened and stored somewhere cool, dry and out of direct sunlight, they keep for about 12 months. After that they work less well.

Are Tattup tattoos waterproof?

Yes. From the next day on you can shower, swim, do sports and go to the sauna. 💦

Just for the first 8 hours: no water, no rubbing.

Good to know: lots of water and rubbing make it fade a little faster.

What’s the difference from henna, stick-on tattoos and real tattoos?
  • Real tattoo: the ink is needled into the dermis and stays permanently.
  • Henna: stains the skin orange to reddish-brown and is usually painted on freehand.
  • Stick-on tattoos: the design sits on the skin as a layer of color, often looks shiny and usually peels off within a few days.
  • Tattup: the ink sinks into the top layer of your skin and reacts there with your skin’s amino acids. Within 24–48 hours it becomes a dark blue to black tattoo that looks like a real one – no needles, waterproof, lasts up to 2 weeks.

How long before an event should I apply my tattoo?

Ideally 1–2 days before. Right after applying you can barely see it – the full colour only shows after 24–48 hours.

What is Genipa americana (jagua)?

Genipa americana is a tropical fruit from Central and South America, also known as jagua. The fruit extract is the active ingredient in our water-based ink: it bonds with the amino acids in the top layer of your skin and stains it dark blue to black within 24–48 hours.

Because only the top layer of skin is coloured, your Tattup lasts up to 2 weeks and then fades naturally as your skin renews itself.
