How do I apply my tattoo? Application Guide

It’s easier than posting on social media. Just follow our straightforward steps, and you’ll be done in under a minute. 🙌

  1. CHOOSE
Pick a smooth spot on your body, clean it up, and dry it off. Got a little fuzz there? Give it a quick shave for the best result!

  2. UNPACK
Unwrap your tattoo and gently peel off the clear protective film from the back.

  3. PLACE
Place your tattoo exactly where you want it, making sure the Tattup logo is facing up—ready, set, ink!

  4. MOISTEN
Grab a damp cloth or wet towel, soak the backing paper completely, and gently press down for a few seconds—make sure it's totally soaked!

  5. REMOVE
Slowly peel off the wet backing paper—don't worry if your tattoo looks a bit faint at first, it'll level up soon!

  6. AVOID / DONE

Take it easy for the next 8 hours—avoid water and rubbing the area. Wear loose clothing to avoid ink transfer onto other parts of your skin!

our tattoo will reach its full, epic look within the next 48 hours—stay tuned!

How long until my tattoo reaches full color?

Give it 24–48 hours to reach peak darkness. Most tattoos develop a dark blue or black shade, but it can vary based on your unique skin chemistry.

What color/shade should I expect?

At first, your Tattup might look barely-there or a light bluish tone. Over 24–48 hours, it darkens into anything from deep blue to nearly black. Different skin types yield slightly different results, just like real tattoos come in various depths of color.

How long do Tattup tattoos stick around?

Tattup typically fades with your skin’s outer layer, so around 1–2 weeks. Check out our GUIDE for more details.

Factors that affect longevity:

  • Your daily routines (rubbing, exposure to water, etc.).
  • The tattoo placement.
  • Properly moistening the backing sheet for a full transfer.
  • Your skin’s personal chemistry.
  • If you start scrubbing or exfoliating, it’ll fade faster—only do that if you want it to disappear sooner.
Can I re-tattoo the same spot once it begins to fade?

Give your skin a mini vacation. We recommend waiting until the old design is fully gone before layering on a new one. That reduces chances of irritation or sensitivity.

Does applying a Tattup tattoo hurt?

Nope—not a bit! No needles, no drama. If you’ve got a lot of hair in that area, a quick shave can help.

How can I avoid smudging?

Smudging is often caused by excess moisture (sweat, oils, or water) trapped under the patch while the tattoo sets.

Pro moves:

  • Wash and exfoliate the area first, then thoroughly dry it. Residual oils or lotions can prevent the ink from bonding.
  • Make sure the transfer paper is fully moistened so the entire design releases. If it partially sticks, you’ll end up with a half-finished design.
  • Don’t shift or reposition the tattoo once you’ve placed it—commit!
  • Stay cool for the first eight hours.

During development:

  • Keep movement to a minimum—intense workouts can smudge or blur things for at least 8 hours.
  • For the first 2 night, wear loose sleeves to avoid tattoo transfers to other body parts or bedding.
  • Basically, keep it chill so your tattoo has the best chance to develop cleanly.
